John Olsen Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz
Wine
Hardys John Olsen Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is a quintessential Australian blend, first made for the winery's 165th anniversary in 2014.
The wine is named for Australian artist John Olsen. In 1982 he was commissioned to create an art series capturing vintage at Hardys. The label artwork is one of the art series, exhibited at Hardys today.
The wine is a blend of equal portions and outstanding parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon from Frankland River, Margaret River and Coonawarra, and Shiraz from 100+ year old vines in McLaren Vale.
The grapes are wild yeast fermented and basket pressed to new and seasoned French oak. After maturation for 18 months the wine is blended and bottled. It is released only in exceptional vintages.
Deep garnet, Hardys John Olsen Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is rich and precise, with layers of sweet dark fruit, fine grained tannins and a long, harmonious finish.
Complex, powerful and graceful. Cellaring potential is 30 years.
